Why the Power button looks like this?

Do you know why the power button looks like this?

                          

          I think probably you never thought about this ? Am I right ?

                      I am Sure that,  in your day to day life you always come in contact with this power button e.g. in your TV remote, AC remote, Laptop etc. 

         

         

                   But you mayn't know about the reason behind this symbol. Why other symbol is not used for power button?

    

              Don't worry, today you will get the answer of this interesting question and you may ask this to your friends,teachers and relatives.

               We all know, with the passage of time, technology is developing. In the early time, switches had a slider that could move to either of the two physical positions On or Off. You may also notice a word power on the switch. 

                                   

                    Later, On and Off were replaced with I and O indicating Input and Output respectively.

                                            

                          Now days, switches become so simple. Now on and off are replaced with 1 and 0 respectively. Because,

  In binary systems, 1 means "On" and 0 means "Off".

                      

        Wasn't it Interesting? 

    Next time whenever you will see this symbol, the reason will suddenly strike to your mind.
